This work focuses on the lexical abbreviation and takes as an example of analysis two forms (suba and baja). The description gives an account of where these reduced forms are used and how often they appear in each of the countries. It also studies the type of nouns that appear in the recorded examples, and if the plural forms (subas and bajas) are equally used. Likewise, the analogy process is analyzed and a description of how these abbreviated nominalizations have been formed is offered, and since when they have been recorded in the history of the Spanish language. Finally, it shows that the two cases studied are part of the general
phenomenon of noun abbreviation in Spanish.
