With only two novels, Josefina Vicens managed to position herself within the mexican canon of the 20th century. Their narrative exposes existential topics, such as emptiness, death, life, nothingness, always directing them towards a social critique. This article, focused on Los años falsos, aims to approach the identity crisis that arises when a mexican society immersed in simulation imposes itself on individuals, enveloping them in patriarchal traditions that diminish their condition of uniqueness, making them fall into anguish and inevitable loneliness
