Budismo Zen y Taoísmo en la poesía ecológica espiritual de Juan L. Ortiz: una aproximación ética y estética

Abstract

The article analyzes the poetic work of Juan L. Ortiz through his relationship with Zen Buddhism and Taoism. Ortiz incorporated the philosophy, ethics, and aesthetics of these two schools of thought originated in China and that reached their highest expression in Japan and Korea into his writings. The work highlights that the influence of these two currents in Ortiz’s work is not a simple coincidence, but the poet identified with Zen Buddhism and incorporated it into his writings. The connection with Zen and Taoism allowed Ortiz to develop an ecological-spiritual poetics in which the poet is not only aware of the importance of the natural world, but merges with it and participates in its existence, becoming an extension of rivers, trees, and animals. The text emphasizes that Ortiz expresses a deep concern for ecology, but his way of expressing this feeling is not based on denunciation, but on empathy and compassion, two concepts closely linked to Zen and Taoism.
