This essay proposes a didactic strategy for the teaching of the novel, based on the combination of Adam's (1992) theory of prototypical schemas and Méndez's (2006) psycho-pedagogical proposal. This is structured on the basis of the development of the following elements. First, a biographical and literary approach is made to the French writer Erick Enmanuel Smith and the novel Oscar and Mamie Rosse. Next, the theoretical aspects of the scientific contributions considered for the systematization of the strategy are explained, in this case the approach to text heterogeneity through Adam's (1992) prototypical schemes and the levels of reading comprehension presented by Méndez (2006). Subsequently, the methodological requirements are explained based on the determination of the study sample and the description of the six sessions that structure the present proposal. Finally, we conclude with the need for the incorporation of ICT in formal education, the challenges for teachers and the contributions of the present work to the development of literary competence.
