Psoriasis case presentation and review

Summary. Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inmune desease with skin and joint manifestations. It can occur at any age but most commonly occurs in two peaks: 20-30 years and 50-60 years. It has a strong genetic component because approximately 30% of patients have a first-degree relative with the disease, and their children may develop psoriatic arthritis without skin changes. The patients experiences few periods of spontaneous remission.Case: Women 39, housewife rural town of Tela, diagnosed with psoriasis 7 years ago. In good general condition without psychological consequences, with plaque located in right elbow with 4% BSA and psoriatic erythroderma covering the entire abdomen 9% of the body surface. Refers improvement using natural products. Currently overweight (BMI 27) and suggestive isolated systolic hypertension of aterosclerosis (140/82 mmHg). Discussion: We must take into account the psycho-social and metabolic aspects that affect the quality of life of these patients , to treat them holistically with a multidisciplinary group. The physician can handle psoriasis in specific cases such as plaque ≤ 5% of BSA, is indicated topical corticosteroid as the first line. For another case, patients with psoriasis should be evaluated by a dermatologist.
