Skin cancer in Honduras from January 2011 – December 2015

Background: Skin cancer a health public problem and science in general. Objetive: Characterize the skin cancer based in the picking of biopsies from the Anatomopathology Laboratory of Mario Catarino Hospital in the period between from January 2011 to December 2015. Methods: Quantitative retrospective cross sectional study. Population 361 benign and malignant lumps biopsies and sample population 158 malignant lumps biopsies. Results: 43.8% (158) malignant lumps biopsies, 58.2% (92) female sex, 25.9% (41) 71-80 years old, 53.8% (85) urban origin; 41.8% (66) rural origin, 36.1 % (57) homemaker, 78.5% (124) on face, 56.4% (70) on the nose and cheeks, 74.1% (118) basal cell carcinoma clinical diagnosis, 81.6% (129) basal cell carcinoma histological diagnosis,70% (110) congruence between clinical and histological diagnosis. Discussion: The skin cancer diagnosis is clinical, Health public should to make mechanisms of disease prevention and healthcare promotion.
