Abstract

Background: Santa Teresa hospital (HRST) is a second level regional hospital with ability to provide a higher level of resolution to disease processes, although it is still limited by the characteristics of infrastructure, equipment, staff and the capacity to manage complications in pregnant women. It is necessary determine the characteristics of patients with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy to strengthen the attention capability. Objective: Describes the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of pregnancy hypertensive disorders of the labor and delivery room of Regional Hospital Santa Teresa, Comayagua during the year 2015. Methodology: Descriptive observational study. During this period, 6,090 pregnant women were admitted, of which 361 (5.9%) had pregnancy hypertensive disease. A sample size of 186 (51.5%, 95% CI) were estimated. The variables included sociodemographic data, gynecological and obstetric history, clinical and laboratory manifestations, diagnosis, therapeutic management and complications. The information collected was entered in a database Epiinfo version 7.1.5 (CDC, Atlanta). The results are presented as frequencies, percentages, ranges and averages. The personal information of cases was handled conidentially. Results: The 58.6% (109) were between 19 to 35 years, 65.1% (121) with greater than or equal 5 prenatal visits. The most common clinical edema sign 37.1 % (69), lactate dehydrogenase laboratorial 69.9 % (130). The most common of delivery mode was vaginal 63.4% (118), 45.1% (84) merited use of antihypertensive drugs, 25.8% (48) anticonvulsants. The most common hypertensive disorder was preeclampsia -eclampsia with a 65.1% (121), and the most frequent complication was HELLP syndrome with 3.7% (7). Discussion: The prevalence of hypertensive disorders was 5.9% respectively.
