Abstract

It is presented a description of biomedical engineering. The aim is to clarify some common misconceptions regarding the role biomedical engineers should have in society and in medical environments as a hole. A brief history of biomedical engineering’s development and background is covered to give a more precise resolution into finding the historical repercussions of this misconceptions and provable causes. It is important that in the end it is clear that the role of the biomedical engineer is that of a translator or a middle man between technology and those who use them.
