Abstract

Objective: To describe the clinical characteristics of the Peripheral Vascular Trauma patients treated at the Hospital Escuela Universitario. Methodology: A descriptive, retrospective study including all patients treated at the Hospital from February 1, 2014 until 28 February 2015. The information was obtained from medical records. Results: were found 21 patients with peripheral vascular trauma, of which 100% were males, the frequently affected age is between 20 to 29 years 38.1%. The type of trauma was found trauma penetrating 100%. The most common cause of vascular injury was aggression 66.67%. The mechanisms of injury were found: ballistic trauma 76.19%, stab wound 19.05% and iatrogenic in a patient 4.76%. The lower limbs were the most affected part with 52.38%. There was no mortality. Conclusion: Peripheral vascular trauma injuries are increasingly common in our environment and the diagnosis and treatment is not difficult in most cases.
