Abstract

Paraprotein is an immunoglobulin produced by a B cell clones of lymphocytes or plasma cells, which is revealed by determining the electrophoretic and quantification of serum or plasma proteins. It discusses the definition and typology of paraprotein, shape detection by electrophoresis technique, while a clinical vignette of a case of multiple myeloma paraprotein IgG is presented, discussing the clinical significance of the entity as well as other causes of gammopathies, including those of uncertain significance.
