The treatment of a patient with ischemic stroke in the paediatric age group is probably one of the most confusing and stressful emergency facing a neuropaediatrician. It has been little studied in children and the best evidence comes from extrapolation of the literature from adults, studies of cases and cohorts and consensus opinions. We currently have three guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of the stroke which will be reviewed by discussing the similarities and differences in the various situations that arise in children with ACV.
