Scientific contribution of a students’ association to Honduran literature, 2014-2022

Background: Research is necessary in the medical field, because it ensures a good quality of medical care and advances in the prevention and treatment of diseases. Objective: To describe the scientific production of the Scientific Association of Medical Students of the Catholic University of Honduras - San Pedro and San Pablo Campus (ASOCEM UNICAH - SPSP). Methods: Bibliometric study. The population was the articles published by members of ASOCEM UNICAH SPSP, obtained from the institutional database and indexed journals. The variables were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Results: From 45 articles that were published by the scientific association from 2014 to March 2022, 31 were original, 14 case reports, having an average of 6 authors per article. Thirty-seven articles were published in journals indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE and Scopus, in English and Spanish. Discussion: Being a scientific association composed of young people has not been an obstacle to have a remarkable scientific production in the country and the region, demonstrated by the number of articles published to date and their indexation in renowned scientific databases.
