This is a study of middle and upper class youth, and their recreational consumption as influenced by structural and cultural factors, addressing four areas where there are concentrations of bars and discotheques in three important municipalities in El Salvador. The focus is on generating the context to supply the population’s consumption demand, and the consequences of this drug use for society. The conclusion is a call for the State to provide decisive regulation of these spaces of social interest.
