Police for the Social State of Law in Colombia: From citizens to police to contribute to peace

The National Police of Colombia (PNC) is a professionalized, constitutional and legislative body defined as civilian, preventive and educational, but since the 1980s it has been set up as a combatant organization against drug trafficking and guerrillas, becoming decisively involved in the armed conflict Internal and officio crime, by governmental decision. It has more than 20 specialized services and advises countries with similar situations of insecurity, among them Vatican City State. Meanwhile, coexistence and citizen security is the main concern of the population in the face of the uncontrollable occurrence of robberies in the absence of police and low response of justice; Generating ratesof victimization of 17.3% and perception of insecurity of 61.4%. It is expected that the signing of the Peace Agreement and the agenda for post-conflict will bring with it the restoration of the constitutional mission of the Police in the Social State of Law and the country has other agencies to deal with high impact crimes and new violence.
