Prof. Delia Crovi Druetta is one of the most outstanding Latin-American specialists in communication. Her work is focused on aspects directly related to the critical perspective, with contributions from the political economy of communication to understand the relations between education and communication, the media industries and the information and communication technologies. Born in Artentina (1947), her professional and academic career started in her homeland, but linked very soon to the Faculty of Politics and Social Sciences in the National Autonomous University of Mexico. However, her influence has an international scope, as she has been visiting professor in Colombia, Spain, Nicaragua and Panamá, with a continuous work on doctoral thesis supervision and on foreign students counseling. Her activity in academic organizations is also remarkable, with responsibilities such as the coordination of the working group of Communication and Education in the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers (ALAIC), organization that she presided during the period 2014-2018, her role at the Scientific Committee of the Mexican Association of Communication Researchers (AMIC), and her work as scientific director of the Latin Union of Political Economy of Information, Communication and Culture (ULEPICC).
