The comprehension about peace is not a concluded debate by consensus and the dispute over its meaning becomes important because it impacts the formation of a governance agenda in a violent world. Faced with violence that is not uniform and is chronic in peripheral countries, it is important to discuss different perspectives in order to find their limitations and alternative responses to transforming this scenario. In this sense, this article aims to carry out a metatheoretical debate between the foundations of the liberal peace framework, its criticism and the contributions of decolonial criticism, while at the same time reflecting on a peripheral perspective of a peace agenda. To this end, we dedicate three sections, in which we gradually deepen the layers of understanding and confront the theoretical frameworks. As a result, it was seen that the root of conflicts in the periphery obey an inconclusive peace derived from the perpetuation of a violent colonial power relationship that makes necessary the production and use of experiences and epistemes that guide a peripheral peace agenda that transforms coloniality and their violence.
