This research was carried out in the UNACIFOR study analyzes the dendroenergetic potential of the species Vernonia patens “huesillo” for the production of biomass for energy purposes, a random probabilistic sampling was applied for the establishment of circular plots of a size of 1000m2 and a radius of 17.84m, located in such a way random to identify the presence or absence of the species Vernonia patens, in order to observe the biophysical characteristics of the site and the chemical and energetic properties of the species, which significant samples were collected at site “A” and site “B”. It was necessary to use laboratory tests to identify a calorific value of around 18,055 MJ/kg to 18,188 MJ/kg, present moisture content from 2.28% to 2.54% and ash content from 1.34% to 1.64%, density of 7.96 g /cm3 at 19.57 g/cm3, it is concluded that the species has favorable physical-energy properties and is a wood-energetic alternative for energy production, which must be considered.
