Postmodernity and Religion. New Age.

Abstract

The author offers a holistic view on what is considered the most salient religious phenomenon during the historic period known as postmodernity, which is also known as the New Age movement or the New Age of Aquarius. The article briefly explains its origins, presents some of the elements that help recognize it and ponders some of the reasons that made it so popular among
Christian and non Christian believers, including among people who were non-believers at all. Finally, it offers a few succinct arguments to understand the conflicting differences between the philosophically eclectic vision of New Age and the Christian humanistic approach that is grounded in ecclesiastical faith.
