Abstract

Although the presence of myth is constant and sustained throughout the Platonic work, it cannot be said that it is a fundamental part of the argument (s) contained in the dialogues, although it is a fundamental part of the method he uses to explain his philosophy. The author thinks that myths are rather instruments of persuasion, didactic, dialectical and at the same time literary resources, to which resorts to develop, expand, clarify and in some cases even substantiate its philosophy, particularly its political theory and its ethical theory.
