Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

The publication of any paper is subject to prior approval from the Editorial Board of the journal. Manuscripts must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in Spanish and be as concise as possible.
  • Manuscripts should not be longer than fifteen pages, including graphs, charts, quotes, and references. However, in some particular cases, the Editorial Board may also decide to publish longer works.
  • Typescripts should be written on letter size 8.5x11 or a Word document, single-space, the preferred font being Trebuchet MS size 12, and wide margins (2.4 cm or 1 inch) all around. The title of the article should be in Spanish, font size 16. Subtitles should be font size 14. All other text should be font size 12.
  • Under the title of the paper, align the name(s) of author(s) to the right on separate lines. On a footnote, indicate the following information of the author(s):
    • Nationality
    • Professional and/or academic profile
    • Affiliations
    • E-mail
  • Indicate whether the paper has been used for a lecture or a conference. If so, mention the purpose and type of event, dates of presentation, and the changes made for the printed version.
  • At the beginning of the paper, include a six-line abstract of the article. The font size must be 10. The abstract must be written in Spanish and translated into English.
  • On a separate line, right after the abstract, indicate four to six keywords in the text. The keywords have to be written in both Spanish and English.
  • The references should be listed at the end of the article as follows:
    H. Albert. Tratado sobre la razón crítica. Buenos Aires: Editorial Sur, 1973

Submitting the Manuscript

  • If the paper includes tables, diagrams, and/or graphics, take into account that the journal is printed in black & white. Light-color background and shades may be useful, if more than one color.
  • If the text includes tables, graphics, and diagrams different from a Word format, submit them on a separate file and on a format that allows editing for printing and diagramming.
  • Teoría y Praxis does not publish papers that are already published or are to be published in other journals.
