In this essay an update is carried out on the scientific contributions around the nature of the human being. It is a provisional landscape, since within the disciplines that intervene in the debate —evolutionary biology, paleoanthropology, cognitive psychology, among others— theoretical and empirical contributions are being generated while increasingly tuning the scientific understanding of the evolutionary path and the characteristics of the Homo sapiens species, to which all human beings who inhabit the planet today belong. Likewise, the essay reflects on the educational implications that the most recent scientific knowledge has (or should have) about the human being.
