This work focuses on the difficult economic and social situation suffered by the tenant farmers of the Zapotitán Valley, in the context of the property distribution project of General Maximiliano Hernández Martínez. Starting from the premises of social history, which has as a subject of analysis society as a whole and individual figures, that for the case of interest would be the subaltern sectors, that is, the tenants benefited with properties in Zapotitán. Therefore, what is intended to be understood is how historical, social, cultural,
regional or national processes affect local environments, which in this case would be the project badly called agrarian reform of General Martinez and his imprint on the peasants of the Zapotitán Valley.
