Abstract

This paper approaches the social and political impact of the financial crisis. It starts with a general view of its implications, and then it examines the social and political implications. The paper closes with a set of reflections on the challenges that the impact of the crisis poses to the democratic governance in Central America, and its interweaving with the processes that, before the crisis or independently of it, mark the region at present.
