The present research work has as its object of study the right to a culture of peace as a human right. The research is justified by the need to contribute towards the promotion of a culture of peace and reconciliation in the country, especially the university community. The methodology used is analysis - synthesis, with the basic documentary review technique, focused on the efforts of UNAN León in this matter, from the institutional, planning, research and academic perspective.  The results and conclusions of the reflective effort are aimed at the institutional, research and academic aspect; and the urgency of strengthening and deepening an education for peace, to sow a culture of peace throughout the university community, which influences other Higher Education Institutions.  The investigation is based on the establishment of a basic conceptual framework in culture of peace, from a human rights approach, which involved the collection, systematization, review and analysis of the international legal framework from the International Human Rights Organizations, but also from the domestic national and university legislation.
