The objective was to evaluate the historical and sociocultural importance of the Leoncio Rodríguez Blandón Megafauna Park (1974-2021), located in Pueblo Nuevo, Estelí, Nicaragua. The study was conducted in 2023, its design was descriptive with a qualitative approach and interpretative paradigm. A non-probabilistic sample of 22 inhabitants of the selected site was used; data collection techniques included interviews, focus groups and observation. The results obtained include the description of historical-socio-cultural aspects dating back to the antiquity of the fossil deposits found in the paleontological site El Bosque, which led to the recreation of large-scale sculptures of prehistoric fauna with real dimensions and to the creation of a “museum” turned into a cultural regent that makes known the origin of the fossil remains and provides a space for historical interaction and social recognition. In conclusion, it was determined that this place is a strong reference of patrimonial identity.
