Compilation of the oral and cultural knowledge of the garifuna language

The present study deals with the traditions that shape the cultural identity of the Gariphuna/ Garinagu currently settled in Nicaraguan territory, which purpose is to support the revitalization of their language and culture. This research intends to confirm the existence of active bearers, in this community, that contribute to the compilation of oral knowledge, which include topics such as diet, daily life, children’s games, social organization, kinship, economy, education, festivals and rituals, musical instruments, artistic demonstrations, traditional medicine, migration and housing.
