In recent years, the Catholic Church has been involved in an institutional crisis due to a series of situations that go against the principles on which this religion is founded, such as corruption, pederasty on the part of the clergy and cover-ups, which affected its image. This study focuses on the discourse of Pope Francis used since his arrival in 2013 until 2015, one of his main tools to communicate his messages and manage the crisis before such a wide audience. Approaches such as critical discourse analysis and rhetoric were used in order to identify the agenda of issues, his way of managing the crisis and how he used certain elements in the content to persuade the affected audience.
