Abstract

The study focused on chronic non-communicable diseases, hypertension and diabetes mellitus, in order to identify their pathophysiological causes; among them: unhealthy lifestyles, specifically diet and exercise; as well as exposure to stress, tobacco and alcohol consumption, and the genetic factors that generate a predisposition to these diseases among young people. It was sought to know the practice of healthy and preventive measures related to their own disorders that can be corrected in time, as long as the students are more aware of healthy practices; based on the knowledge they possess thanks to their area of study, which is related to health, and their preparation for the future work environment.

The qualitative-descriptive research had as its research universe 368 students between 18 and 35 years old, belonging to three Nursing Training Institutions in the municipality of Santa Ana.
