Abstract

This study examines the areas of demand, and the competencies required for textile and industrial engineers in El Salvador’s textile sector. The methodology combined qualitative and quantitative approaches to provide a comprehensive understanding of the necessary demands and competencies, particularly in the economically significant western region of the country, known for its textile industry activity. Data were collected through electronic surveys and interviews with executives and professionals from the sector voluntarily. Key areas of demand for these professionals include general operations, management, processes, product development, and sales. Essential soft and hard skills for success in the sector encompass integrity, leadership, effective communication, planning, and organizational abilities, among others.
