Abstract

This essay is a sum of ideas on the subject of university - or higher education in El Salvador, in order not only to present a contribution to the call for the Bicentennial of the Independence of El Salvador, convened by the University “Dr. José Matías Delgado”, but also to set a precedent so far not much treated, and that can serve the academic context in general and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MINEDUCYT) of El Salvador. Obviously the topic of the history of the universities has an articulation with the aspect of identity as a historical-social basis of the history of the city of San Salvador, that is to say, it is part of the historical whole of the capital.
