The future journalist, writer, surgeon and poet Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera was born in Mexico City, on Slave Street number 2, today Republic of Chile Street number 13, on December 22, 1859. Belonging to a middle class family, He was the firstborn of the marriage of Manuel Gutiérrez de Salceda Gómez (1818-1889), and María Dolores Nájera Huerta (1831-1895). He was baptized in the Church of the Metropolitan Tabernacle with the names of Manuel Demetrio Francisco de Paula of the Holy Trinity Guadalupe Ignacio Antonio Miguel Joaquín, on January 4, 1860. His godparents were the future official José Yves Limantour Marquet (1854-1935) , politician and chief financial officer of the period known as Porfiriato, and the uncles of the future poet: José Nájera Huerta and María Gertrudis Gutiérrez. It should be noted that the brand new Limantour godfather was barely five years old when his godson was baptized.
