Author Biography

Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos

The IACHR is a principal, autonomous body of the Organization of American States (OAS) responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights in the Americas. It is composed of seven independent members who serve in a personal capacity and is headquartered in Washington, DC. It was created by the OAS in 1959 and, together with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IAHRCourt), installed in 1979, is an institution of the Inter-American System for the protection of human rights (ISHR).
