Abstract

Central America is part of what is qualified as the most unequal and insecure region in the world by international institutions. However, social movements have recently demanded a political system reform in Honduras and Guatemala and they have requested a democratic, popular and constitutional response to the prolonged social problems. This has enabled the emergence of a homogeneous social fabric and a prism of opportunity to overcome the status quo in the region. This article aims to help strengthen the process of rupture and, at the same time, of political transition and economic democratization from the perspective of other countries in Latin America and the so-called New Latin American Constitutionalism Block.
