Abstract

Efforts by different governments in partnership with youth, business and ILO organizations have, after many years, yielded positive fruit. According to recent data published in the ILO's Global Youth Market Trend 2015 report - published a few months ago - there is a trend towards lower youth unemployment and rising schooling in several countries around the world, representing great hope for youth; however, as the same report states, this trend has not been presented homogeneously in all countries and/or regions of the planet, so efforts must continue. In the case of Nicaragua, youth unemployment statistics remain stalled so the call to action is still in place despite the various initiatives, plans, policies and programmes promoted by the various social and governmental actors in order to counter the youth unemployment crisis. The objective of the present work called "Nicaragua: towards a law of first youth employment?", is to rescue one of the initiatives promoted from the National Assembly and to continue the theoretical debate on the importance of a Law on the first youth employment in our country.
