Organización de los Estados Americanos

The Organization of American States is the oldest regional body in the world, the origin of which dates back to the First American International Conference, held in Washington, D.C., from October 1889 to April 1890. At this meeting, it was agreed to create the International Union of American Republics and began to weave a network of provisions and institutions that would become known as the "inter-American system", the oldest international institutional system.

Comisión Interamericana de Mujeres

Established in 1928, the Inter-American Commission on Women (CIM) was the first intergovernmental body established to ensure recognition of women's human rights and is the only hemispheric political forum for women's human rights and gender equality
