Abstract

The general objective of this article was to analyze the prevalence, statistics, protection and risk factors of suicide. In this sense, a revision of the etiology of suicide has been conducted, taking into account elements such as the biological, psychological and social factors of suicide. The definitions of general prevention, direct prevention and indirect prevention are presented; in like manner, the study also presents and discusses the different mental illnesses which represent a higher incidence in the phenomenon of suicide; these pathologies include depression, alcohol and drug consumption, personality disorders, schizophrenia, and marriage problems. It also describes the risk in the vital stages of human beings.
