Abstract

Some researchers of the Mesoamerican culture refer to round structures and/or platforms of this region as anomalous, erroneously associating it to ceremonial use related to the deity Quetzalcoatl. Another usual mistake is to manifest that this type of structure, almost unalterably, obeys Toltec or Mexican affiliation; they are also considered indisputable as a Post-classic (900-1525 D.C.) marker. Now, based on the above, we conducted a literature documentary investigation that allowed collecting data about pre-Hispanic round structures registered in Salvadoran territory up to date, information with which we were able to demystify the presented statements.
