Abstract

Law on work accidents of 1911 and the creation of the work office:The Law on Occupational Accidents of May 11, 1911, was the first and clearest antecedent of the State's power to exercise acts related to labor inspection in El Salvador, as a means to protect the rights and guarantees of workers in that time. In general terms, this normative body established incipient legal concepts, competences, procedures and sanctions so that workers could claim the employer in cases of work accidents.  This law established that the employer was responsible for work accidents that occurred to its workers, with reason and in the exercise of the profession or work they performed, unless the accident was due to force majeure or fortuitous event, strange to work in that the accident occurred, or that this had been verified by notable negligence or serious imprudence of the operator.
