The main novelty of the Human Development Report El Salvador 2010 (IDHES 2010), called "from poverty and consumerism to the well-being of the people", is that it contains a diversity of proposals for the construction of a new development model for the country, based on the human development approach.
These proposals are the result of two complementary analyzes: one of a historical nature, which examines the development models and the economic and social policies practiced in El Salvador since the beginnings of an independent nation; and the other, of comparative development, which allows us to identify what other small countries did that at one time in their history were as poor as El Salvador, but now stand out among those with the greatest human development.
