Abstract

The development of a socio-economic census in the urban area of ​​the municipality of Nahuizalco, department of Sonsonate, emerges as a diagnostic for the evaluation of the potential to achieve a model of sustainable local development.
For which it was considered an instrument of data collection with forty-one questions, which were applied to seven hundred and sixty-one houses of the four neighborhoods that make up the political distribution of the municipality.
The information collected was provided by persons of legal age and who were heads of family. It is important to emphasize that some dwellings could not be censured for reasons of being in places of high delinquency.
It was found that in terms of educational level of the population is mostly in complete secondary education. In economic terms, it was found that the average income ranges of family groups ranges from $ 101 to $ 300, generating an income per day per person, equivalent to $ 1.49 to cover the average cost of living that includes food, housing, transportation, clothing, health, education. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is extreme poverty.
