The objective of this article is to determine the attitudes, mastery and use of Information and Communication Technologies in teachers of private universities in El Salvador.
The sample was of 742 teachers, 487 (65.6%) men and 255 (34.4%) women. The aforementioned variables are compared with gender, age, professional level, time of teaching and the type of employment contract.
The descriptive results showed that 85% of the sample has positive attitudes towards ICT in education and 15% have attitudes of distrust; in terms of domain, 82% of the sample indicates technologies as a general tool and 63.5% as a tool in education; in use, 76.4% define it as a general tool and 41.9% as a tool in education.
In the inferential results it was reflected that sex, professional level and type of labor contract do not have significant difference in any of the variables.
Age does not present significant differences in attitudes, but in domain and use. Additionally, it is observed that there is a significant difference between the time of teaching with the mastery and use of ICT.
