The objective of the study was to compare the driver's expression of anger, between drivers of public transport and private drivers; and determine the influence of sociodemographic variables on the variables related to driving. Method. The sample consisted of 968 drivers, divided into 488 drivers of public transport and 477 individuals. Results The analysis of the variance (Anova) of one factor indicated significant differences between both groups: in aggressive verbal expression (F 1, 905 = 5.45, p = 0.020); in aggressive physical expression (F 1, 913 = 16.41, p = 0.000) and vehicle use to express aggression (F 1, 905 = 8.48, p = 0.004) confirming these results with the U Mann-Whitney test: aggressive verbal expression (Z = -3.15, p = 0.002), in aggressive physical expression (Z = - 4.80, p = 0.000) and in vehicle use to express aggression (Z = - 2.47; p = 0.013).
In the three dimensions of driving aggressiveness, drivers of public transport are more aggressive when driving than private drivers. Conclusions The drivers of Salvadoran public transport manifest higher levels of aggressiveness behind the wheel than private drivers. Likewise, bus drivers have more aggressive physical expression than minibus drivers.
