Abstract

It was the best and the worst of times, the century of madness and reason, of faith and unbelief; it was a period of light and darkness, of hope and despair, in which the most splendid horizon and the darkest night were perceived. "This is how Charles Dickens expressed himself in his novel Historia de dos ciudades (1859).
Novel that analyzes and compares the historical moment that lived the two great European cities at the time of the French Revolution: the apparently calm and peaceful London and the convulsive and chaotic Paris.
Moment of the Western world in which the coordinates of history were neither symmetrical nor absolute, but contradictory and relative.
