First, to locate ourselves better, let's talk a little about the phenomenon of gangs. Traditionally the mara in El Salvador had been a rebellious movement typical of the young adolescent who manifested his zeal and rivalry to order, this was more obvious, in moments of sports confrontation.
But at that level it did not generate any problems. The problem arises when there is a qualitative leap from what were gangs to what are now gangs, and this situation arises when the first deportees arrive from the United States.
In this context, the profile of the mara changes radically. That change in some Salvadoran mentalities is not clear, still refers to the image that was head of the gangs, those fights that have always been given, there are, will continue to occur; These collegial rivalries, typical of adolescence in front of the order, to the established, because they want to get their personality, but in that environment of youthful gang, the phenomenon of the current gangs has nothing to do. Because, one thing is the seed and another thing is the earth, the seed comes to us from outside the outside.
