Abstract

Currently El Salvador has reached alarming levels of violence, is considered one of the most violent and insecure countries in America, the causes are varied and present a level of complexity difficult to understand and counteract; above all, because much of the responsibility is attributed to hundreds of young people who take refuge, from an early age, in groups that no longer only dispute territories or protagonists, but that perpetrate in a staggered manner, a series of crimes related to the trafficking of drugs and organized crime. Entorno journal, as part of its interest to offer a contribution to the development of knowledge and contribute to finding the causes and possible solutions, interviewed two specialists in the field, Oscar Bonilla, current President of the Public Safety Council, entity that in the last years has developed a series of programs and plans to prevent violence and Miguel Cruz, Director of the Research and Opinion Institute of the Central Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas -UCA- which is part of the civil society initiative that is named "Society without Violence".
