Citizen security is necessary. People want to live without fear of others. Human security is perhaps the most vital aspect for social coexistence.
We all have the need not to be exposed to physical violence. There are various ways in which violence is manifested: threats from the State (arbitrary detention or imprisonment), threats from other States (war, support for oppressive regimes, threats from other groups of people (ethnic conflicts, crimes, violence in the streets), threats directed against women and threats directed against children.
The previous types of violence and other forms of war are constant threats and constitute a serious danger in El Salvador. The hidden instruments of oppression, not necessarily physical, still exist and are manifestations of citizen insecurity that must be eradicated.
Injustice prevails with the imprisonment of innocent people for political reasons and without legal justification and some proofs; they are therefore manifestations of corruption through the abuse of power by the corresponding authorities. Laws are sometimes interpreted at the discretion of those who have been appointed to apply justice with equity, as a clear manifestation of legal insecurity.
