This article shows the results of a qualitative investigation into the feasibility and acceptance of an Ombudsman for audiences in El Salvador as a mechanism to strengthen the right to information of the Salvadoran population, and thereby improve the quality of the content offered.
In-depth interviews and focus groups with journalists and opinion leaders were conducted.
The opinion of the media owners and directors was sought, but no response was obtained.
The results were analyzed using ATLAS.ti.
The main conclusion is that El Salvador is not ready for the creation of an Ombudsman, although it is clear that the media content is not of the best quality and does not respond to the interests of the population.
