Abstract

The January 13 earthquake struck with devastating fury much of the national territory, killing several hundred people and leaving more than one million homeless.
This natural disaster produced an economic and social catastrophe that by the number of deaths and being the poor, the main population group harmed, involves a human drama with a desperate sequel of pain and suffering.
To that catastrophe has been commanded the other hard blow caused by the earthquake of Tuesday, February 13, phenomena that combined devastated entire villages and aggravated the deplorable condition of poverty that overwhelms the bulk of the inhabitants of El Salvador.
