Abstract

This article intends to present a summary of the investigations and the most important results of the 1999 season of the Ciudad Vieja Archaeological Project and an explanation of the factors and considerations that guide the investigations.
We begin with a few brief comments on the foundation of the village and its dating and the relationship and differences between history and archeology.
