Abstract

Good afternoon to all of you. First of all, I must thank this honor to be here at ASI and thank its president and all the authorities of the Technological University, because this is the second time that they give me the honor of participating in an activity organized by them. I will try to summarize a bit what the Free Trade Agreement with Mexico is.
It is a treaty that delayed signing and has been one of the questions that classically ask us in the forums where we speak, it took six years, which some consider to be a long time, but we believe that it was just time to reach beneficial agreements for both of them.
A negotiation process that for us was marked by the interest of reaching agreements that were asymmetric, agreements that will consider the differences in the size of the economies and agreements, which, under the mandate of the presidents, will take into account these development differences.
We gave ourselves the task of specifying in reality what the asymmetry would be.
We can with satisfaction express now that this treaty collected all the objectives that we proposed from the beginning, of asymmetry in particular and as a main aspect.
